Goken America: Second Year on the Inc. Magazine ‘Inc. 5000’ List

24Sep 2018

Dublin, Ohio – September 19, 2018 – Goken America, a North America-based engineering and technology company, today announced that it again has been named to the Inc. magazine “Inc. 5000” list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The 2018 list provides a unique look at the most successful companies within the U.S. economy’s most dynamic segment – independent business. Goken America earned its spot recording a three-year sales growth of 66%.

“Our return to the Inc. 5000 list for the second year in a row validates our goal at Goken America of creating an environment where our associates can thrive as everyday partners with our clients, helping them design and build better products,” said Doug Smith, Goken America CEO.  “This achievement, recognizing our significant growth, was again earned for us by our associates’ dedication, enthusiasm, and continually growing technical skills.”

“If your company is on the Inc. 5000, it’s unparalleled recognition of your years of hard work and sacrifice,” says Inc. editor-in-chief James Ledbetter. “The lines of business may come and go – or come and stay. What doesn’t change is the way entrepreneurs create and accelerate the forces that shape our lives.”

Jim Jordan, Director of Business Development had this to say about the company’s return to the Inc. 5000 list, “Continuing our growth, while transforming our business has been our most rewarding accomplishment in the past three years. We have expanded our business regionally – into Detroit and Boston, and in the market – entering the aerospace industry.

Jordan explained that most of Goken America’s engagements are now project-based, with the company managing the deliverables and providing significantly more client value.

“Our engineering technology division has seen a two-fold increase and has completed a number of full PLM implementations and design automation projects,” he added. “One of these projects was completed in only a week and saved our client more than $1.2 million in development costs in the first year. “

Goken America’s commitment to innovation and technical advancement is demonstrated by its involvement with the Ohio State Center for Automotive Research and the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research. These relationships have led to additional Goken America contributions and interaction in safety engineering, hybrid and alternative fuel drivetrains, and cutting-edge CAV and ADAS research and development.

“At the previous Inc. 5000 event, I noticed many of the companies are startups, still in their first three years, and outside funding was a key component of their growth,” noted Bill Nichols, Goken America Vice President and COO. “That’s not the case with Goken America. When we made the list for the first time, it was as a mature company with 13 years of proven success. All our growth was self-funded. We have developed a culture of trust with our associates and our clients.”

Nichols explained the Goken America culture that drives that success. “We have created a culture of trust with our associates and our clients. We take risks and we are agile; but we are in it for the long haul. For example, recently, a client approached us with a two-month steering design deadline necessary to complete their first crash test. We deployed ‘Goken REDD,’ a team specifically targeted for these types of challenges. We met the deadline while onboarding a long-term team to bring the entire project to completion.”
